Year 6 Scots Pine Residential 2021 - Day 2

Year 6 Scots Pine Residential 2021 - Day 2

Afternoon / Evening After a delicious lunch served by the next clan, we swapped over and had another brilliant session of firelighting, dinner preparation, and shelter building in the forest! Our day of sunshine turned to showers again, so some of us opted for dry activities under the canopy: drumming circle and detective games! And others chose to head back into the forest to enjoy the mud! Dinner was a delicious spaghetti and pasta sauce, followed by cake to celebrate our TGC leader Millie’s birthday! We ended our day with a sunset walk, observing and listening to nature around us. Year 6 settled quickly into their tents for the night and got cosy! We are looking forward to what tomorrow holds.

13:01 It’s been a full morning for our Year 6s since breakfast time! First we set off in our clans to reflect on our experience so far. Each clan came up with a drama performance to show some of their highlights so far. There were lots of great performances and giggles! After we shared our performances, two of our clans headed off to the forest to spend time in nature and work on shelter building! Meanwhile, our other two clans stayed at base camp where they did two things: careful food preparation for our lunch, and learning how to light a fire! There was also time to squeeze in some fun on the tyre swing. We’ve had sunshine all morning, and braved a shower just before lunch!

09:29 Day 2 has dawned at our camp in Kent! After a cosy night in our tents Year 6 were up early with the sunshine and raring to go. We started our day with breakfast around the campfire: first porridge with tasty toppings, followed by a second breakfast of eggy bread and mushrooms! We are well set up for a day of activities: looking forward to firelighting, crafts and more time in the forest. Stay tuned!
