Year 6 Scots Pine Residential 2021 - Day 1
Evening Once we had settled into our tents, it was time to split up into our clan groups for some activities! Each clan has come up with a unique name, call and response, and action! We had great fun coming up with these as one of our afternoon activities. In our groups we each took a trip to the forest, where we took time to be in nature and even met a sleeping giant! Each clan also helped with some food preparation for our campfire dinner; we learnt the claw grip for safe knife skills and used it to prepare vegetables. We also played some new games in our clans and as a whole class: there were a lot of giggles! After four rounds of activities and games, it was time to come together as a camp community for our dinner cooked over the campfire. Each clan takes it in turns to serve our meal and wash up the cooking pots, but we are all responsible for washing our own bowls and cutlery! Tonight’s dinner was vegetarian sausages, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and onion gravy. Delicious! After tea it was time for campfire songs and a brilliant story around the fire. Then Scots Pine class snuggled into their sleeping bags with additional hot water bottles for their first night in tents!
15:07 After a lovely lunch under the camp canopy, we had a tour of the site. We’ve been shown around the site campfire circle, facilities, mela tent for crafts and storytelling, and of course our own tents! We also had some free time to explore the site ourselves. Once we’d had our tour it was time to settle into our tents! Year 6 have enjoyed organising their tents and making them cosy and homely! Now that we’ve all settled in, it is time for some group activities, and later, our first campfire circle!
12:24 And they’re off! Scots Pine have arrived safely at our campsite for this week! After a smooth journey down to Kent, we carried our bags up to the camp site and are settling in with a tour from our amazing leaders!
